nanomacromega, the first exhibition and event in the Structural and Materials Engineering building, features some of the UC San Diego arts/engineering projects already under development including nanosensors, sustainable sculptures, simulation techniques, and experimental video and works by UCSD Visual Arts faculty. These works include Anya Gallaccio’s photographic prints which are made scanning nano and microparticles with an electron microscope, Benjamin H. Bratton’s “Nanoskin” project which examines the geopolitical implications of nanoengineer Joseph Wang’s bioelectronics tattoos, and Rubin Ortiz Torres’s performance “Hi ‘n’ Lo,” which showcases an industrial warehouse lift adapted to dance with movements inspired by low-rider cars. Participating artists: Benjamin H. Bratton, Sheldon Brown, Teddy Cruz, Ricardo Dominguez, Anya Gallaccio, Rubén Ortiz-Torres, and Michael Trigilio.
